Warwickshire and Solihull Blood Bikes offer a free service transporting a number of items for the NHS. This could include blood, plasma, test results and medical equipment. One of their lesser-known cargoes is human breast milk.
To celebrate the end of Volunteer Week 2020, I am pleased to announce that WSBB has been presented with a grant for £5000.
We are again indebted to WPH Charitable Trust for their second grant of £5,000 in response to WSBB's 2018 application for support in periodically renewing one of our fleet of Blood Bikes. The WPH Charitable Trust is dedicated to providing funding for individuals, groups and organisations to help prevent, relieve and cure sickness in Coventry and Warwick
WSBB member Angelo (WSBB135) and his Son Luca helped raise much needed funds for our charity during the lock down. They selflessly gave up their time to help with the maintenance at Ambleside Care Home in Stratford-Upon-Avon. Impressed by their voluntary work with the Blood Bikes, it has resulted in a very generous donation of £1000. Everyone at WSBB would like to say a HUGE thank you to them both and Ambleside Care Home for their kind donation. 'We would like to say a MASSIV
The support that we get from these fantastic people is invaluable. Everyone at WSBB would like to say a HUGE thank you to Coventry Riders Action Group and Enemy Ink for their fundraising through the Covid19 period. It's been great to see the support people have given us by wearing their t-shirt
Volunteers’ Week takes place 1 – 7 June every year. It’s a chance to celebrate and say thank you for the contribution millions of volunteers make across the UK. Here at WSBB we are operating business as usual.
As well as volunteering their time a lot of our members have full time jobs and family’s to juggle. Therefore their volunteer work is done during the evenings, early hours and weekends, 365 days of the year.
